Description

Dana V is a modern, multidisciplinary oceanographic and fisheries research vessel measuring 69 meters in length. She was commissioned by Technical University of Denmark (DTU) to carry out scientific research missions, environmental monitoring, and training activities. The vessel has been designed to meet the highest standards of onboard comfort, underwater radiated noise, and cybersecurity. Its notation Polar Class 6 notation ensures safe operations in Arctic waters.

Dana V features a diesel-electric propulsion system comprising three generator sets, supplemented by a 565 kWh battery pack that enhances energy efficiency and allows optimal adaptation to different operational profiles. Propulsion is arranged on a single shaft line fitted with a fixed-pitch propeller, driven by two tandem permanent magnet electric motors to comply with the Silent R underwater radiated noise notation.
