Polar King and Polar Queen are sophisticated multi-purpose offshore vessels commissioned by GC Rieber Shipping, specializing in offshore operations and subsea construction. They are designed to operate in the most severe weather conditions while maintaining precise station keeping and accommodating up to 112 people on board.
They feature a diesel-electric power plant powered by six 1,710 kW generators, supplying energy to two 3,800 kW cycloidal thrusters and a retractable 1,350 kW azimuth thruster. Additionally, they are equipped with two bow thrusters, two passive anti-roll systems, and an anti-list system with two transfer pumps of 200 m³/h.
The vessels are equipped to deploy mini-submarines and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) at depths of up to 4,000 metres through a Launch and Recovery System (LARS). They can handle heavy loads using an active heave-compensated crane with a capacity of 150 tonnes and a reach of 35 metres.
They are also equipped with Nexans CAPJET technology, enabling the vessels to trench the seabed for the installation of power and data cables, even in deep waters.
