Naval Engineering students from the Escuela Politécnica Superior de Ferrol visit Freire Shipyard

The Freire Shipyard facilities received today the students of the Master and the 4th year of Naval Engineering from the Escuela Politécnica Superior de Ferrol, in a visit organized with the support of the Official College of Naval Engineers. In this educational visit, students saw the different manufacturing processes within a shipyard. They also had the opportunity to visit the interior of a ship under construction.

Due to the geographical location of the Higher School, the students are used to seeing warships and the objective of this visit is to show other types of vessels, such as oceanographic vessels, where Freire has extensive experience,” explains the Captain of the Merchant Navy, Inspector of the Navy and teacher at the Escuela Politécnica Superior de Ferrol, Raúl Villa Caro.

During the visit, Raúl Villa Caro highlighted the efficiency in the processes, cleanliness and safety of the shipyard and the importance of students being able to attend welding on site, see the pipe shop and other important processes for their training.

The visit was accompanied by Cristina Otero,  in charge of quality and environment of Freire Shipyard, by Sonia Barreras Sanjurjo from the steel department and by the project manager, Oscar Pacheco.
