Description

This vessel arrived at Freire Shipyard as a cable-laying ship with the intention of being transformed into a seismic vessel in record time. Freire successfully completed this major transformation in eight months after removing the cable storage tanks and the cable-laying deck to install the necessary equipment, such as high-pressure compressors and winches, gun winches (three double units) and the corresponding streamers (eight units), as well as deck cranes for handling the side doors and hoses. 600 tons of steel were removed, and new structures were added, including a hose-laying ramp, new accommodation areas, and a new antenna mast.

All these new areas required the installation of piping, cabling, and outfitting work before finally conducting equipment start-up tests, a final dry-docking, and the corresponding sea trials for final acceptance.
