Technical Office and Naval Engineering Department
A key differentiator for Freire is our professional Technical Office, which allows us to develop highly complex naval projects and successfully handle a wide range of vessel types with a strong capacity to adapt to each client’s operational, regulatory, and functional requirements.
Our Technical Office comprises over 40 people, including naval engineers, naval designers, and highly specialized technicians. We have departments specializing in steel, armament, naval architecture, electrical engineering, and outfitting, giving us the capability to develop comprehensive designs for shipbuilding projects, from conceptual and basic engineering to detailed engineering and production support. Our team has extensive experience in 3D design using CADMATIC, FORAN, and advanced finite element analysis (FEA), including static, fatigue, and overall structural behavior analyses.
We have developed projects for more than 30 countries, adapting our designs to the various flag requirements and codes of state maritime authorities (MCA, USCG, DGMM, NMA), as well as complying with the construction and quality standards of the leading Classification Societies: DNV, Bureau Veritas, Lloyd’s Register, and RINA.
In addition to projects developed at our own facilities, our Technical Office has extensive experience in managing and executing CKD (Completely Knocked Down) projects, enabling the shipyard to develop and transfer shipbuilding projects to any country in the world.
